Davido was honored with this award alongside another young rising Nigerian music star, Solidstar Isoko. The latter, also just before the recently concluded FIFA World Cup 2014, was made the official music ambassador of the Nigerian Supporters club and he made a song and music video to cheer the Nigerian Super Eagles to greatness as they prepared for the highest competition in world football.
The honor goes a long way to celebrate the gentleman attitude and countenance of these two Nigerian music stars. It is a recognition that even goes beyond the two artist’s musical prowess, it reflects a careful study of the two young music stars, their brand and style of music, and most importantly their influence on youths both in and outside the shores of the country.
According to the official press release by the Universal Peace Federation and Youth Federation for World Peace, the bodies decided to honor Davido and his Nigerian music industry colleague due to them being distinguished personalities and portraying themselves as gentlemen of distinction in the society.
Coming back to the music prowess and success of Davido so far, the young music star has been up and running, since winning the Ghana Music Award for best african artiste early in the year and on July 1st winning the BET award for best international act coming from africa. He had a little earlier in June, won two awards at the MTV MAMA awards in South Africa. Just last week, the young dude performed in front of a crowd of 60,000 in Rwanda as the country celebrated their yearly Liberation Day.
