    Police rescue four-year-old girl from abductors

    PORT HARCOURT: The Rivers State Police Command Friday rescued a four year old girl from the hands of her abductors barely 30 minutes after her abduction.

    The little girl who was taken away from her mother, yesterday, at Ikoku Junction along Ikwerre road in Mile 2, regained her freedom by the swift intervention of the police some mile away from the scene of the kidnap.

    An eye witness told Vanguard that the kidnappers double crossed the mother of the girl in her car along the Ikwerre road and made away with her handbag, her four year old girl child and other valuables.

    He insinuated that the kidnappers may have been tracing the woman from a distance and unfortunately caught up with her at a small traffic at the Ikoku Junction. He said the boys fired a bullet at the woman’s tire and the gun forced passersby take to their heels.

    He revealed that some policemen who were at the Junction took cover having been taken unawares. He alleged that the boys fired a gun at the police Patrol Vehicle. He also said that when the boys succeeded, that the police on Patrol chased after the suspected Kidnappers.

    The Commissioner of Police Rivers state Police command, Dan Bature who confirmed the incident told the press that the little girl has been rescued from her abductors just about 30 minutes after her abduction.

    He said the police following recent cases of kidnapping in the state have intensified actions to curb the menace.
